Fieldbus Foundation
The Fieldbus Foundation has announced that Mr Hideaki Miura, senior executive officer and general manager, Engineering Division, JGC Corporation, will be the keynote speaker at its 2009 General Assembly to be held in Yokohama, Japan, on 4-5 March 2009. Planned for the Pan Pacific Hotel, the annual event is open to Fieldbus Foundation members and non-members, and will be attended by Foundation fieldbus suppliers, end users and other industry participants from around the world.
Offering an overview of Fieldbus Foundation developments, the event will include presentations by fieldbus technology experts focused on process integrity, open scalable integration and business intelligence. It will also feature presentations by end users who have installed Foundation fieldbus in their industrial operations.
According to Fieldbus Foundation President and CEO Rich Timoney, the keynote presentation by Hideaki Miura will provide valuable insights into the adoption of Foundation technology by automation end users, engineering firms and system integrators. He says: "JGC Corporation has implemented a number of major Foundation fieldbus projects in the process industries, and has extensive experience with the technology. Mr Miura will provide an authoritative perspective on the growth of our market.
"Foundation technology has gained significant market share over the last several years and continues to grow at a very rapid pace. In these difficult economic times, leading-edge technologies such as Foundation fieldbus provide a platform for reductions in both CapEx and OpEx. Reductions in time to calibrate, commission and start up are essential during the build phase of projects. Improved asset utilisation, reduction in maintenance costs and tighter control translate into improved operating performance and enhanced competitiveness."
The agenda for the 2009 General Assembly will include Foundation technology presentations by fieldbus end users, including: John Rezabek, ISP Corporation; Jasbir Singh, Essar Refinery Ltd.; Takuo Suzuki, Mitsubishi Chemical Engineering; and Bindert Douma, Shell Global Solutions. Fieldbus Foundation staff members will also provide updates on current Foundation technology developments such as wireless implementation, safety products, field device integration, Electronic Device Description Language (EDDL) and field diagnostics.
