Water industry applications for Profibus systems will be one of the main topics at a UK Conference and Exhibition to be held on 24/25 June 2008, covering the applications and technology behind Profibus and Profinet systems. Roger Marlow, Project Manager for the Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specification project (WIMES) will present a paper entitled Installation of fieldbus networks in the UK Water Industry - Current and future trends. Marlow works for the Pump Centre, part of ESR Technology, one of the UK's leading engineering, safety and risk consultancies, and is chair of the WIMES Electrical Working Group. WIMES is currently preparing a common Water Industry Specification for the installation of fieldbus networks as part of the revised Low Voltage Installation specification, WIMES 3.02.
The conference also includes presentations by other speakers well known in the water industry, such as Mark Cargill of Enpure, who will discuss how to extend a Profibus network. This will cover the main issues faced in migrating to or expanding such systems and also examines the factors to consider when designing a Profibus network with expansion capabilities from scratch - no doubt based on the many Profibus installations made by Enpure on water industry sites.
Other presentations will be include water industry suppliers such as Endress + Hauser and Siemens Milltronics, the latter discussing troubleshooting on Profibus PA networks. The event is the UK Profibus and Profinet User Conference, a combined Conference and Exhibition of relevant equipment, with practical workshop sessions giving tips and advice on the practical use of the technology.
