Free white paper: escape and rescue from safeguarded spaces

Fortress Interlocks has published a free white paper entitled How to Consider Escape and Rescue from Safeguarded Spaces?

Free white paper: escape and rescue from safeguarded spaces

As the white paper explains, there are two pertinent international standards and one Technical Specification:

  • ISO 14119:2013 - Interlocking devices associated with guards. Principles for design and selection
  • ISO 12100:2010 - General principles for design. Risk assessment and risk reduction
  • ISO/TS 19837:2018 Trapped key interlocking devices. Principles for design and selection

The white paper then guides readers through the process of deciding whether there is a requirement for emergency exit and, very helpfully, highlights the differences between three similar terms that often cause confusion:

  • Escape release
  • Emergency release
  • Auxiliary release

Finally, the white paper addresses the critical issue of system stopping time. This is sometimes overlooked, which can give rise to a dangerous situation if access is gained while the machinery is still moving.
