Health & Safety Compliance Engineering is launching a new two-day training course for 2013, Essential Design Skills - Functional Safety - EN ISO 13849 and the application of SISTEMA. This course gives machine designers the knowledge and tools to design safety-related parts of control systems for machinery in accordance with European Harmonised Standard EN ISO 13849-1:2008, and also the procedures and conditions to be followed for the validation of systems in accordance with European Harmonised Standard EN ISO 13849-2:2012, which has only just recently been published.
SISTEMA is a software utility that provides developers and testers of safety-related machine controls with comprehensive support in the evaluation of safety in the context of EN ISO 13849-1. The tool enables users to model the structure of the safety-related control components based on the designated architectures, thereby permitting automated calculation of the reliability values with various levels of detail, including that of the attained Performance Level (PL).
This new Functional Safety training course will be presented by Robin Carver, a qualified Safety Systems Engineer and a Safety Practitioner with over 40 years' experience in the design and assessment of wide range of machinery in an equally wide field of applications and environments. He is formally recognised and listed on the Occupational Safety & Health Consultants Register as offering sensible and proportionate advice on machinery safety.
