Kluber Lubrication has published its latest Sustainability and Responsibility Report, detailing the company's progress on its global path toward calculative climate neutrality by 2045.
Since 2019, Scope 1 and 2 CO2eq emissions have been reduced by 81.6 % across all production and sales sites. The next milestone is a 90 % reduction by 2030. The long-term goal includes Scope 3 emissions and covers the entire value chain.
This progress is based on a clearly structured four-step approach that is being implemented globally: switching to green electricity, reducing the use of solvents, electrifying fossil-based processes and continuously improving energy efficiency. Rather than isolated efforts, this is a comprehensive strategy embedded in the company's business model and pursued across all locations.
As the Management Board emphasises, sustainability and competitiveness go hand in hand at Kluber Lubrication. The focus lies on product solutions that help customers save energy, extend maintenance intervals and reduce CO2 emissions, both in their own operations and across the supply chain.
"Our dedication to sustainability is not only about reducing our environmental impact, it's about creating long-term value for our customers and contributing to a more climate-resilient economy," says Markus Hermann, Sustainability Manager at Kluber Lubrication. "We believe it's our responsibility to go beyond compliance and actively shape this transition. Our handprint already exceeds our footprint, and we're working every day to strengthen it: through better products, transparent data and close collaboration with our partners."
Climate protection with measurable customer benefits
One example of this is the company's Kluber Energy Efficiency programme, which delivered strong results in 2024: 641,000 MWh of energy saved at customer sites and 143,000 tonnes of CO2eq emissions avoided - a 44% increase compared to 2023. Internally, too, Kluber continues to drive change: the company now sources 100 % green electricity in Europe, North America and China, with a global green electricity share of over 85 %.
Kluber Lubrication has received multiple awards for its sustainability achievements, most recently in early 2025, when the company was awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal for the fourth consecutive year, placing the company among the top 2% of more than 150,000 rated companies worldwide.
