NORMA Group has won a contract to equip the electricity and fibre optic connections to an offshore fish farm system in the Norwegian North Sea, using its ABA Original SMO hose clamps
NORMA says that the clamps will be used 40km offshore adjacent to Tromsø and will form a key element of the subsea cable bend restrictor system. The clamps will be used to secure cable kink protection seals.
Long-time NORMA Group customer TESS, a Norwegian operator covering the oil and fishing industries, uses ABA Original SMO clamps for subsea cable bend restrictors. Where the electric and fibre optic cables bend, the clamps secure the seal to prevent potential cable kinks and are designed to last for 20 years.
NORMA says that its ABA Original SMO clamps are made from SMO 254 material, an austenitic stainless steel that doesn’t rust and provides maximum resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and various types of stress corrosion making them suitable for use in challenging environment such as sea water plants and facilities in the chemical and food processing industries.
