Following their success at the UK National Championships, which saw the team successfully compete in a series of robotic challenges, the pupils also scooped a variety of celebrated awards. Presented with the Sportsmanship Award for their respect and enthusiasm of the competition, the team were also presented with the prestigious Design Award for the 3rd time this year, which secures their place at the highly-acclaimed VEX Robotics World Championships and places them alongside top qualifying teams from all over the world.

Michael Noonan, Head of Technology says: "As a mentor and teacher of the team, I know just how passionate these young people are about robotics and how much they deserve the praise. They are the engineers of tomorrow and they're feeling confident about giving it their all at the VEX Robotics World Championships alongside the top young robotic minds on the planet."

VEX Robotics is the largest and fastest growing middle and high school robotics competition in the world, with more than 20,000 teams from 40 countries that participate in over 2300 competitions across the globe. As a leading platform for educational robotics around the world, VEX Robotics introduces children to the possibilities that a career in engineering has to offer.

Aimed at children aged 11 to 18, the VEX Robotics competition promotes teamwork, problem solving and leadership while encouraging them to get involved in STEM subjects.

Queen Elizabeth's School for Boy's is a state funded grammar school in Barnet, North London, which was founded in 1573 by Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester and others, in the name of Queen Elizabeth I.

HBM is delighted to be able to support and develop this next generation of engineers. Offering students a great opportunity, schemes such as the VEX Robotics competition enables young people to understand how important engineering is and to help appreciate what it means for the growth of the country.
