At Machine Building North, AP Technologies will be promoting Broadcom's time-of-flight sensor modules for applications such as AMR/AGV and drone navigation, void/overhang/collision avoidance; functional safety; and factory automation, etc.
(See AP Technologies at Machine Building North, 10 April 2025, on stand 2)
The ToF modules integrate a Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser with a custom Application-specific IC. Broadcom's proprietary ASIC combines laser driver; high-sensitivity 32-pixel avalanche photodiode sensor; APD bias; reference pixel for system health monitoring; temperature sensors; clock source; 128bit EEPROM; logic; and frame-based interaction via SPI. All this, plus lenses for the VCSEL and APD-array, within a compact housing measuring just 12 x 8 x 8mm3 requiring a single 5V supply.
Also on display will be compact, high-performance spectrometers, photodiodes, LEDs, laser diodes and Mid-Infrared emitters and detectors.
