High-speed palletising robot boasts 700kg payload

Fanuc Robotics is launching a new version of its 410iB series palletising robot with an payload capability that is 55 per cent higher. The new Fanuc Robotics M410iB/700 arm maintains the high-speed capability of the range, 700 cycles per hour, and takes the payload up to 700kg.

Operating over a standard pick-and-place test cycle (0.4m up, 2m linear, 0.4m down) the arm performs 700 cycles per hour, at 100 per cent duty cycle, providing a potential palletising throughput of 490 tonnes per hour.

To enable this throughput Fanuc has enhanced the existing wrist to manage the higher wrist inertias. The new arm claims the highest inertia rating in the palletising sector at 490kgm2, an increase of 150 per cent over the previous largest model in the range.

Staying with the proven configuration of the 410iB series, the base of the four-axis arm is configured to occupy a small footprint of just over one metre square, while its elevated articulated arm design allows it to comfortably palletise a 1.6m square pallet by 2.1m high. Its 360-degree work envelope makes it suitable for servicing multiple palletising stations with multiple conveyor inputs.

Supporting the robot's compact footprint is the integration of the intelligent Fanuc Robotics A series controller in the base. This saves space and removes the need for obstructive cable trunking in the area.

Movements are smooth due to the arm's simple but rigid configuration, and a 60mm through-arm facility provides access for gripper control cables and pipes.
