How cycloidal gearboxes offer efficiency savings

Cycloidal gearboxes or reducers are excellent for use in low-cost robotics applications, where high positioning accuracy with low backlash are required. In a video, igus introduces a new cycloidal gearbox made from self-lubricating and maintenance free iglidur plastic.

Complementing the robolink family, of lightweight robotics systems, robolink C driven cycloidal gearbox is available as a standalone module. Or can be delivered as an assembly combined with an igus stepper motor. The plastic gears, which are lightweight, are up to 60 per cent more efficient than their metal counterparts.
