How to expand and customise IXON: the full toolkit

Where traditional remote access solutions are often limited to a Windows application, IXON is an expandable cloud-based system. This is not only more modern, but also much more future-proof. This flexibility allows you to fully tailor your IXON environment to your specific needs and processes. You can customise and expand your IoT solution with Studio and Admin, API, App Engine, Marketplace, and SecureEdge Pro Docker apps.
Studio and AdminData Studio
With the IXON Studio, you can easily design your own portal via drag-and-drop. Numerous widgets with extensive settings give you full control to configure IXON Cloud to your liking.
In the Admin section, you can set how your user management works, assign machine properties, organise everything into groups and even add your own branding to both your portal and smartphone app.
API
IXON is built as an API-first platform. Everything you can see or do in the browser is also available through the API. This makes integrations with tools such as PowerBI, ERP systems or in-house developed service tools easy.
IXrouter3 API: To provide visibility into network and internet connections on the control panel, you can communicate through the machine side (LAN) with the IXrouter3 API. Many customers also use this API to integrate specific service tools.
VPN Client API: The VPN Client allows your PC to securely connect to your machines via a VPN. Have you developed your own service portal or do you want to set up automatic VPN connections? Then you can easily achieve this by integrating the VPN Client API.
App Engine
Whereas the API provides the ability to communicate with IXON Cloud from a 3rd party system, the App Engine provides ability to add functionality in IXON Cloud. These run within IXON's infrastructure and come in different forms:
UI Components: Develop widgets for your portal or app.
Cloud Functions: Process data or establish connections to external services.
Pipeline Functions: Transform incoming data and store it in an appropriate format.
The App Engine gives you complete flexibility to customise IXON to your needs.
Marketplace
IXON's Marketplace is a valuable source of inspiration. Here you will find apps from IXON as well as from the company's external partners. IXON works closely with Solution Partners who support customers in developing specific functionalities within IXON Cloud. Some of these partners have published their most used apps on the Marketplace. Customers can do business directly with these partners; IXON has no commercial stake in this.
SecureEdge Pro Docker apps
In addition to a local API, the SecureEdge Pro gateway offers the ability to run proprietary applications, such as Node-RED, Grafana or network scanning tools. Thanks to Docker technology, you can use the SecureEdge Pro for a variety of applications. You can find examples of Edge apps in the Marketplace.
