igus e-skin wins Fraunhofer clean technology award

The e-skin is made of tribologically optimised, abrasion-resistant plastic. The separable upper and lower shells can be "˜zipped' together to form a fully enclosed tube, which is highly dust-proof and water-resistant. This guarantees both cleanroom compatibility and easy filling with cables and hoses. The e-skin is very light and well suited for small installation spaces, for instance in pick-and-place applications. Unlike other corrugated hoses, it is suitable for short unsupported distances because of the stiffness of the material, the rib profile and a defined direction of motion.
