At MachineBuilding.Live, Stuart Coulton, UK and Ireland marketing manager for OMRON, will discuss different approaches to minimising downtime when he leads a workshop titled: “Increasing productivity by minimising changeover times”.
In the era of rapidly advancing machinery and heightened efficiency, the changeover process – encompassing tooling, raw materials, and component parameters – has emerged as a significant bottleneck, particularly in high variability manufacturing environments.
“With manufacturers producing an ever-increasing number of SKUs, the demand for faster, more efficient changeover processes has never been greater,” said Coulton.
In the workshop he will explain what can be done to optimise machines and production processes to ensure a smooth transition between products in complex manufacturing processes.
“Organisations can adopt a range of measures to drive efficiency including, reducing the amount of time operators spend moving goods, adopting just-in-time delivery of line consumables and automating the verification of packaging materials prior to start up,” he said.
