Inductive ring and tube sensors - static and dynamic versions
IFM Electronic is launching a family of inductive ring and tube sensors. These benefit form a fast response time (0.2ms), adjustable pulse stretching and sensitivity and high resolution - even steel balls as small as 0.6mm diameter can be detected. Static and dynamic versions are available and customers can choose between normally-closed and normally-open types.
Static sensors operate like inductive proximity sensors in that they generate an output signal when there is metal in the detection zone. These can therefore be used in feed applications, such as for detecting falling screws or monitoring for jams.
Dynamic sensors are used when very small parts need to be detected. When the sensor detects a part, it generates a short pulse at the output, which is adjustable from 0.1 to 150ms. The high resolution is maintained for a long time, even in case of metal contamination on the tube.
Numerous different models are available. For example, the I7R201 is a static NO/NC three-wire DC PNP sensor with a ring diameter of 10.1mm for detecting steel balls down to 1.5mm diameter. Pulse stretching is from 10-150ms and the response time is 0.5ms. This sensor accepts an industry-standard M12 connector.
Another example is the I7R216. This is a dynamic NO/NC three-wire DC NPN sensor with a ring diameter of 25.1mm for detecting balls down to 1.2mm diameter. Pulse stretching is from 0.1-150ms and the response time is 0.2ms. This sensor also accepts an industry-standard M12 connector.
A third example is the I85000 tube sensor. This is a static NO three-wire DC PNP device with a sensing range of 14 mm for detecting steel balls down to 3.0mm diameter. Pulse stretching is 100ms and the response time is 0.5ms. This sensor has an industry-standard M8 connector.
