Installation, commissioning and support for motors and drives

Dave Hawley, General Manager of Deritend's Wolverhampton branch, says: "We now provide, supply and support major brand drive and motor products from cradle to grave. We are a single source responsibility for specification, supply, installation, commissioning and now accredited repairs for drives that are out of warranty. What this means for users is greater security, both in terms of the quality of the repairs themselves and for their future production - whatever the industry type."

The drive repairs are carried out by five factory-trained bench engineers and repair technicians at Deritend's electronics repair facility in Wolverhampton. The repair facility has a full suite of test, measurement and ancillary equipment, which, allied with the skill of the technicians, enables repairs from the most basic to the most complex to be performed. These can be at board or component level, in the latter case usually involving the replacement of larger components such as thyristors and capacitors.

Dave Hawley explains: "It does not matter to what level of complexity we repair to, because each repair comes with a warranty, which is not the case where some repairers are involved."

With drives ranging from fractional kW ratings up to megawatts, some can be cheap to repair or replace, while others can be very expensive when they go wrong, regardless of their size, particularly in continuous process industries. Deritend claims that it can offer some insurance against this type of failure, with health checks and good advice as well as a same-day service for repairs when required.
