Junction boxes ensure EMC compliance for torque transducers

HBM is introducing the VK20A junction box for 14 to 30V DC supply voltages to increase the reliability of measurements by ensuring EMC-compliant connection of T20WN and T22 torque transducers to HBM amplifier systems.

Junction boxes ensure EMC compliance for torque transducers

As both the recently launched T22 and the T20WN torque transducers utilise current inputs, the VK20A is replacing the VK20 junction box.

Intended as a low-cost option for functions that have less demanding accuracy requirements, the T22 torque transducer has applications including static and dynamic torque measurement on stationary or rotating parts in laboratory, test and measurement, as well as in production and process control and education. With its compact and robust design, the transducer has a 0.5 accuracy as defined by HBM and comes in different nominal (rated) torque steps ranging from 5Nm to 1000Nm. The permissible rotational speed ranges from 9000 up to 16,000rpm, depending on the measuring range.

With rated torques of 0.1 to 200Nm, the T20WN torque transducer delivers a 0-10V analogue output signal with high bandwidth, and is therefore suitable for use in production because this output signal can be processed by standard analysis electronics. The T20WN also operates without wear and is therefore maintenance-free. The supply voltage is transferred without contact to the rotor of the transducer, and the return transfer of the torque value to the stator is in the form of an analogue voltage signal.

Simple installation into the production line is another benefit offered by the T20WN when used for checking rotary switches. The integration of the transducer into the test configuration occurs via simple bellows couplings, which are also available from HBM as accessories. An integrated speed measuring system in the T20WN delivers 360 pulses per revolution on two tracks offset by 90 degrees. After the edge detection, this means that 1440 pulses are available.
