L-force Logic & Motion gains Profibus option
Profibus is now supported on the latest versions of runtime software L-force Logic & Motion in addition to EtherCAT and CANopen communication modules. This means that any Lenze PC-based control system can assume the role of a Profibus master if equipped with the corresponding communication card.
With release 2.2 of the runtime software, the entire Profibus world is open to users of the L-force Logic & Motion control system. Lenze's industrial PCs can therefore function as Profibus masters in a fieldbus in conjunction with the company's Soft PLC. To enable its connection to Profibus networks or components, the PC has to be fitted with the MC-PBM communication card for Profibus. As the industrial PCs have two slots, two Profibus segments can be integrated at the same time. Alternatively, one Profibus segment and, for example, one EtherCAT or two CANopen buses can be integrated directly by means of the control system.
Users benefit, as this offers even greater freedom of design. For example, existing plant components that are networked via Profibus can now be incorporated unchanged. At the same time, the support of different communication standards guarantees that the best communication bus for the respective task in hand (motion or logic, for example) and architecture (linear type or star type) can be chosen without having to leave the L-force environment.
