Optimedica has used LabVIEW and hardware from National Instruments to develop a medical instrument for treating retinal diseases; the automated laser-based process is far quicker and less painful for patients than the traditional method of using a manually targeted laser.
Optimedica Corporation specialises in helping ophthalmologists treat retinal disease and has developed the PASCAL (Pattern Scan Laser) photocoagulator. Using LabVIEW and a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) devices in this application helped Optimedica automate this proven procedure with speed and reliability.
