Lenze is releasing a new version of the PLC programming software "PLC Designer'. The new version 3.5 is a low-cost and powerful programming tool using the new CoDeSys 3 for logic and motion functionality. PLC Designer allows programmers to easily get started with the powerful language structures of IEC 61131-3. The editor and debugging functions are based on the sophisticated development environments of high-level programming languages such as Visual C++. Function blocks are certified according to PLCopen parts 1 and 2. Thus the software is particularly adaptable and reliable through extensive use of standards.
PLC Designer is created for easy use with systems containing elements such as controllers, visualisation, I/O and drives. Project examples are laid out within the software and these can easily be overwritten, making the programming task more like configuration. Five different languages from IEC 61131-3 are available to choose from: Instruction List, Ladder Diagram, Function Block, Structured Text and Sequential Function Chart. In addition there is a powerful CFC editor in which the program elements can be freely positioned in the workspace. Libraries are built in for Lenze drives and I/O, also PLC Designer interfaces with the Lenze visualisation software VisiWinNET. Web-based parameter setting is available, allowing all key commissioning and diagnostic work to be performed without a separate PC application.
PLC Designer is structured around the Lenze concept for controller-based automation. This means it is quick and easy to include DIN rail controllers such as the 3200C and the new c300 together with the I/O system 1000. Optimum high-performance motion can be added with the i700 multi-axis servo drives.
Lenze PLC Designer software is low cost, with a single licence at less than 400. There is a 30-day free trial period available. For the programming and commissioning of controller-based automation systems, it offers faster project times and reduced workloads. More information is available at www.lenze.com.
