Livelock panel fasteners carry high shear and tensile loads

Specialty Fasteners & Components is now supplying Livelock panel fasteners for use on access panels, electrical enclosures and similar applications where rapid access is required but a traditional quarter-turn fastener would have inadequate strength.

Livelock panel fasteners carry high shear and tensile loads

Already popular for aerospace and motor sport applications, Livelock quick-release fasteners are securely locked within two turns yet can take high shear and tensile loads. This is achieved by means of a four-start thread and a spring-loaded ratchet mechanism that ensures positive locking and resistance to vibration - without having to rely on prevailing torque.

A wide range of components is available, including:

  • Flush-head, hex-drive stud nuts
  • Flush-head, hex-drive, slotted stud nuts
  • Flush-head, hex-drive, slotted shank stud nuts
  • Pan head versions of the above
  • Low-profile head stud nuts
  • Radial-float receptacles (standard and lightweight)
  • Threaded insert-type receptacles
  • Wire form retaining rings (caged and uncaged)
  • Solid three-tab retaining rings
  • Spiral retaining rings

Although they were originally designed as aerospace airframe structural fasteners, the Livelock fasteners' combination of high strength, hex drive and retaining rings could make them suitable for other innovative applications in machine building.
