LOCTITE Health & Safety adhesives continuously developed

A high commitment to research and development in product chemistry is now more important than ever with transitional changes relating to European Classification, Label and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. Henkel's LOCTITE Health and Safety range of adhesives is a good case in point.

When these products were introduced their chemical components required no hazard labeling, but that would not be the case today. Thanks to Henkel's policy of continuous development, however, LOCTITE adhesive formulation has changed in line with these new regulations. Henkel customers can therefore be assured they are adopting best practice in terms of workplace safety.

Indeed, today's CLP Regulations are far stricter than ever before to a point where even common household products, that were once considered to be hazard free, now have to carry warning labels. And this serves to illustrate the harmless quality of the new LOCTITE formulations.

Since CLP Regulation was introduced in 2009, chemical classification law has been a mix of EU and domestic legislation running side by side. By June this year, the old Chemicals' Hazard Information and Packaging (CHIP) Regulations will have been phased out, a process that has involved many chemicals being reclassified.

The LOCTITE Health and Safety products not only offer full compliance with these latest EU regulations but they also provide customers with details of the most comprehensive range of hazard-label free adhesives on the market.

Initially the range was focused on threadlocking, threadsealing, gasketing and retaining. Indeed, many of these products have now become standard toolbox items across industry; the threadlockers, LOCTITE 2400 and 2700 and the retaining compound, LOCTITE 6300, are typical examples.

Next, a range of hazard label-free cyanoacrylates were added to the Health and Safety range. These instant glues are available in a choice of viscosities to suit the application and also include products with special characteristics to meet the application needs.

Most recently the range has been extended to include Health and Safety silicones which are suitable for sealing all kinds of flanges on pressed, cast and plastics parts, in any combination.
