Machinery safety training courses receive national accreditation

Pilz Automation Technology has received accreditation from The National Skills Academy for Materials, Production and Supply for its one-, two- and four-day City & Guilds Machinery Safety training courses.

Machinery safety training courses receive national accreditation

The four-day City & Guilds Machinery Safety Course provides attendees with knowledge that helps them to demonstrate a level of competency in machinery safety. It is suitable for people who have responsibility for existing or new machinery, including maintenance engineers, engineering/project managers, design engineers and manufacturers. Pilz also offers a two-day course for managers and a one-day course for supervisors. Both cover the application of EU Regulations and standards for machinery safety, explaining the responsibilities for managers and supervisors under the current legislation.

Proskills UK Group comprises Proskills UK, the Sector Skills Council for the Process & Manufacturing sector, and the National Skills Academy for Materials, Production & Supply. Together, these bodies represent the interests of nine key industries that make up one-third of the UK manufacturing sector.

Proskills UK is an employer-led organisation that represents the interests of industries in the process and manufacturing sector. It is responsible for ensuring that the current skills and funding systems deliver against the needs of its employers. Proskills also develops the standards and qualifications that the industries' employees undertake. This involves researching the needs and trends of industry and articulating these into relevant training solutions.

Accredited providers

There are around 200 training providers on Proskills 'Course Finder' database; gaining accreditation places Pilz in an elite category of just 35 accredited training providers that have been quality approved.

Richard Bloxam, Network Development Manager at Proskills UK (on the left in the photo), commented: "Not only is Pilz a specifier of products for the process industries, it also has a great knowledge and understanding of industrial processes and a richness of experience in machinery safety. Together, these attributes have been translated into excellent, fit-for-purpose training courses. Pilz provides a very unique, hands-on approach to training provision and I was extremely impressed with the structure and content of the courses, as well as the balance they provided between theory and practical elements. These training courses are also equally relevant to all nine of our industry sector groups."

Martin Palmer, Training Manager at Pilz (on the right in the photograph), added: "We are absolutely delighted that our most popular training course is now accredited by The National Skills Academy. Pilz has a very long tradition of providing high-quality machinery safety training and in helping customers to understand and apply the knowledge and skills gained in these courses to their own workplace. Our City & Guilds courses are very well appreciated in the marketplace and we have a very high pass rate. As well as the theoretical side to our courses, we are also renowned for providing very hands-on, interactive training, with practical exercises to help delegates apply the knowledge to their own projects and applications."
