Mtec Sensors, measurement & Instrumentation 2011, which takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, on 6/7 April 2011, will feature the latest in control, instrumentation, sensor and measurement technologies for use in products and production systems. The event is support by the Institute of Measurement & Control and will include a free presentation theatre where visitors can hear leading speakers from industry. Companies with stands at Mtec 2011 include those listed below. A full listing is available via the Mtec website.
AIS supplies and installs ISO/IEC 1D and 2D bar code verification systems and systems for 100 per cent inspection of printed label. AIS is the Master European Distributor for Label Vision Systems (LVS), a leading manufacturer of Barcode and Label print inspection systems. In addition, AIS supplies the full range of Datalogic bar code scanning equipment and CAB label printer applicators.
Bruker will be showing its new AcuityXR optical surface profiler that combines patent-pending Bruker hardware and software to enable selected ContourGT non-contact, 3D optical surface profilers to break the optical diffraction limit and deliver lateral resolutions that were previously considered impossible to achieve. Bruker optical surface profiler systems equipped with the new AcuityXR mode have shown resolution of features below 130nm in width, which is claimed to be unprecedented in optical microscopy and is nearly three times finer than can be achieved by systems without this technology.
Optris has introduced enhancements to its Optris CS LT. The thermometer now features improved parameters such as a greater temperature range up to 1030degC. In addition, the company has implemented the intelligent LED display concept in which the display can be used to assist targeting or to show the condition of the device via the self-diagnosis LED. A temperature code indication completes the innovative concept.
A further innovation is the 'ambient derating' function. The Optris CS LT is calibrated at different ambient temperatures at a black body. During applications at customers, the sensor also measures the ambient temperature and takes this into consideration when measuring the temperature.
Optris says the Optris CS LT can be used in ambient temperatures of up to 80degC without additional cooling, and the optical resolution has been enhanced to 15:1 and the response time to 25 ms.
RDP Electronics will be showing its comprehensive range of transducers, including load cells, pressure sensors, LVDTs, torque and magnetostrictive transducers, together with instrumentation and measurement software. The company specialises in providing cost-effective instrumentation for a broad range of measurement needs, right from the point of measurement through to PC display of data.
Renishaw will be featuring an extensive range of precision encoder products, including the Resolute absolute optical encoder that is capable of 1nm resolution at speeds of up to 100m/s, and a component-level magnetic encoder.
Mtec will also see the first UK showing of Renishaw's new RoLin component-level magnetic encoder that consists of an RLM readhead and MS magnetic scale or MR ring. It has been designed for embedded motion control applications as a position control loop feedback element. The actuator is a periodically magnetised scale or ring with a pole length (P) of 2mm. Radial or axial reading of the ring is possible, and applications are expected to be for high-volume, miniature axes in a wide range of industries.
Other products on show will be new additions to the popular TONiC range of incremental optical linear and rotary encoders, including a 1nm resolution option, UHV-compatible formats, and a Dual Signal Interface (DSi) version. Other optical encoders to be displayed include the SiGNUM RESM angle encoder that offers accuracy, resolution, and repeatability, even at high speeds and in high-temperature environments.
Rhopoint Components will be displaying a wide range of pressure sensing with pcb 100 psi to high-precision 0.02 per cent FS 55000psi transducers in both gauge and absolute variants, and manufactured using high-grade materials. Humidity sensors, both resistive and capacitive, will also be shown, in addition to an extensive range of passive and active components.
William Hughes will be at Mtec to demonstrate its capabilities in four key areas: the manufacture of compression, tension and torsion springs; wire forming - including simple and complex 2D and 3D wire forms; printed circuit test points and terminal pins; and specialist wire sales. The company offers design, engineering and prototyping services.
William Hughes has recently invested in new manufacturing facilities and precision test equipment at its facility in Stalbridge, Dorset, while a purpose-built factory in Bulgaria is now in its seventh year of production, meeting demand from across Europe. Two years ago the company took over the spring and wireform business of Baumann Springs & Pressings (UK).
