New Aristo submerged arc welding power supply from ESAB

ESAB is launching the Aristo 1000 AC/DC SAW (submerged arc welding) power supply, claiming major improvements in productivity and significantly reduced energy consumption compared with conventional alternatives.

A new function on the Aristo 1000 AC/DC is Bead Profile Modelling, which provides full control of the AC output's frequency, balance and offset so that the welding parameters can be optimised to suit each application's requirements for penetration profile, heat input, deposition rate, arc stability and stirring effect. For applications requiring a higher welding current, two Aristo 1000 AC/DC units can be connected in synchronised parallel mode.

In addition, the machine can switch between AC and DC 'on the fly' to eliminate the stop/start routine that is normally required, and which can result in downtime and weld defects.

Another feature of the Aristo 1000 AC/DC that delivers productivity improvements and energy savings is Cable Boost. This avoids the voltage drops associated with long cables, so the usable length of welding cable is more than doubled. ESAB's patent-pending Cable Boost technology also stores energy that would otherwise be wasted through inductive losses, enabling an instant boost in welding energy output to be provided.

More energy savings

ESAB has optimised the design of the Aristo 1000 AC/DC to minimise operating costs and reduce the user's carbon footprint. As well as the features already mentioned, a remote on/off function enables multiple power sources to be controlled centrally, thereby providing an opportunity for further energy savings.

To help reduce the need for unplanned maintenance, ESAB has provided impact-protected connectors that are located behind a door on the front of the machine. While the cables remain easy to access when required, they are less vulnerable to accidental damage.

Suitable for use anywhere in the world, the Aristo 1000 AC/DC accepts any three-phase mains supply, from 380-575V at 50 or 60Hz. Protection to IP23 means the machine can be used in almost any production environment.
