Chamois Metrology is introducing the Martell Electronics BetaProbe TI high-precision digital thermometer. This compact, low-cost instrument features a probe that rotates through 90 degrees to make it easy to use in situations where space is restricted. Chamois Metrology says the BetaProbe TI is an excellent replacement for LIG (liquid in glass) thermometers, which can suffer from problems with safety and potential product contamination.
Incorporating proven Betaprobe circuit design technology for reliability and precision, it has a temperature range of -50 to +160degC with +/-0.06 degrees C accuracy, and a resolution of 0.1, 0.01, 0.001degC (user-selectable). The integral rotating probe houses a quick-response thin-film sensor for high-accuracy readings with minimal insertion depth.
According to Chamois Metrology, the BetaProbe TI high-precision digital thermometer has a unique user-configurable trend indicator that shows whether the reading is stable or trending higher or lower.
The LCD display has a high-intensity blue backlight for easy reading in any lighting condition. Powered by three longlife AAA alkaline batteries, the portable high-precision thermometer weighs only 75g.
Furthermore, the BetaProbe TI high-precision digital thermometer has ATEX and IECEX approvals for hazardous areas, making it suitable for temperature monitoring in oil and gas applications or where there is a potentially explosive atmosphere.
With the use of the optional BetaLog TI software, this product becomes a high-performance, easy-to-use data logger. It enables users to create full suites of logging options and download them to the BetaProbe TI, and then retrieve, format, display and save the data using Microsoft Excel spreadsheet files. The unit's RS-232 serial port can also be used for configuration and recalibration support via windows hyper terminal.
In addition to LIG thermometer replacement, other typical uses are: as an independent reference thermometer for use with temperature dry-block calibrators; and process temperature logging - or almost any application where high-precision temperature measurements are required.
