New Flir A35 thermal imaging camera for machine vision

Flir Systems is launching the Flir A35 thermal imaging camera for machine vision, saying that the camera's compact dimensions and attractive pricing can bring effective, discrete and affordable thermal imaging to production lines that could not have previously benefited from this technology. The A35 is fully compliant with both GeniCam and GigE Vision protocols, making it ready for quick and easy network installation. Communication and power are supplied via one cable for easy and quick connection.

The Flir A35 is suitable for open-loop, high-speed applications in which quality and control can be governed by thermal contrast rather than accurate temperature measurement. It is designed to make it easy for manufacturers to validate and increase product quality and throughput, minimise waste and improve profitability.

Image frequency is 60Hz and users can choose the performance that best suits the application requirements: eight-bit streaming of high-contrast, non-radiometric data, or 14-bit image streaming for a wide range of real-time vision applications.

Thanks to its 336 x 256 pixels resolution and

GeniCAM provides a generic programming interface for quick and easy set-up, whereas GigE Vision allows fast image transfer using low-cost standard cables over long distances. Both standards also allow the seamless integration with software - and similarly compliant equipment - from different vendors, thereby considerably extending the camera's scope of application.

Multiple Flir A35 cameras can be synchronised, whereby one is configured as the master and additional units as slaves, which is a common requirement for safety-related applications.

The Flir A35 is supplied with a choice of 19mm or 9mm fixed focus lenses. Flir says that it is the only infrared manufacturer to produce its own lenses, which is an important benefit because it ensures the lenses are optimally suited to thermal imaging.
