New generation of modular combination PLC and HMI units
Unitronics is launching the new generation of UniStream modular combination PLC and HMI units. This new range follows more than 20 years of PLC development experience and is aimed at meeting the needs of automation machine builders and system integrators. UniStream is claimed to be at the top of its class, with a specification that includes powerful dual CPU processors, excellent HMI touch panels and a variety of I/O. Unitronics says it is easy to take a UniStream HMI and customise it by adding modules for a CPU and I/O. The UniStream therefore helps customers to cut costs, save space and reduce programming time significantly.
UniStream is claimed to provide programmers and end users one of the best user experiences in the market today. The intuitive UniLogic studio software is said to cut programming time by 50 per cent; this is achieved by predicting the programmer's intentions and reusing written code. Programmers can build a library of user-defined function blocks and HMI screens that can be imported to new projects or shared. The software's predictions save significant time on definitions of I/O points, PIDs and other functions. The drag-and-drop, automatic line creation and re-use options of existing code also help to make programming quick and easy.
Unitronics is also introducing UniApps, which is an expanding library of value-added PLC embedded apps. UniApps can reach data, edit it, monitor, troubleshoot, debug systems and more. As required in today's world, UniStream can be accessed remotely via PCs and smartphones.
UniStream supports a wide variety of communications protocols, including RS485, CANopen, UniCAN and Modbus (serial and Ethernet). Furthermore, UniStream can also adapt to third-party protocols, and the onboard USB and serial ports support external devices such as modems, printers and barcode readers.
