New measuring amplifier module with multiple universal inputs

HBM is launching the QuantumX MX1615 measuring amplifier module with universal inputs to handle the full range of strain gauge measuring tasks and more. It enables up to 16 strain gauge channels to be connected in a variety of configurations including full- half- and quarter-bridge, with both three-wire and patented Kreuzer four-wire circuits.

According to HBM, the amplifier module enhances measurement flexibility because all channels can also be used to record standardised voltage signals of +/-10V as well as temperatures with PT100 sensors. Each channel can be individually parameterised and all channels are equipped with 24-bit A/D converters. The data rate of 19.2kHz and the maximum bandwidth of 3kHz per channel ensure that the MX1615 is suitable for a wide variety of analyses.

The excitation voltage of the strain gauge channels can be selected for each channel as a carrier frequency or DC voltage. With the carrier frequency method, electrical isolation of channels and cyclic auto-adjustment algorithms make the measuring amplifier very insensitive to the electromagnetic interference associated with inverters, high currents or electrical machines, for example.

MX1615 measuring amplifier modules can be used with other modules to create distributed measurement architectures because they form part of HBM's comprehensive QuantumX measuring system. This means that they can easily be combined with analogue outputs, digital inputs/outputs, CANbus or EtherCAT connections. Data transfer to a PC is simplified by the use of Ethernet TCP/IP.
