New PGT-10-S handheld programmer for incremental encoders
Sick is launching the PGT-10-S handheld programmer that enables users to configure its DFS60 programmable incremental encoders in terms of pulses per revolution (from 1 to 65,536) and the output signal (TTL or HTL). The same unit can also be used for monitoring and diagnostic purposes, and for 'cloning' when an encoder is being replaced or when multiple machines are being constructed.
A major benefit of the intuitive PGT-10-S handheld programmer is that it avoids the need to use a laptop PC or configuration software, as manufacturing organisations often have strict controls over the use of laptops on the factory floor, and/or the installation of software on company computers. Furthermore, Sick claims that the device is so easy to use that no training is necessary.
With just four pushbuttons and a backlit display, the battery-powered programmer is easy and convenient to use anywhere on a machine. It is compatible with the following types of encoder: DFS60B, DFS60A, DFV60B, DFV60A and VFS60A. Note that the PGT-10-S handheld programmer is also supplied as one element of the new Incremental Encoder Conversion Kit.
