A category to reward sustainability has been added to this year's Manus Awards, an event organised by igus to celebrate manufacturers using engineering plastics and bearing systems in their designs
2021 marks the tenth anniversary of the igus Manus Awards, and to mark the occasion and reflect its commitment to the environment , the company has added a Green category to its established Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. Participants worldwide are encouraged to enter, and the deadline is 12th February 2021.
Matthew Aldridge, UK Managing Director of igus says: “Millions of plastic machine parts are used in devices, appliances and engines across the globe and yet there are few other materials as underrated in mechanical engineering as the plastic plain bearing. Our Manus Awards throw the spotlight on the technical superiority of plastics to solve problems, create new possibilities and improve performance. This year we are proud to be launching a new category to honour a sustainable project.“
Manus Awards judges represent the fields of science, industry and specialist media and currently the plan is to announced the winners at the 2021 Hannover Trade Show in April.
The prize fund is worth more than £8,000. Previous winners include a sports catamaran, throttle ring and a device for cleaning and testing pipes. You can enter or discover more about the awards via the igus website here.
