NI LabVIEW 8.20 wins Engineers' Choice Award

Control Engineering magazine has awarded National Instruments' NI LabVIEW 8.20 a 2006 Engineers' Choice Award, calling the graphical development platform one of the most significant innovations of 2006. Control Engineering subscribers were asked to select winners based on three criteria: service to the industry, technological advancement and market impact.

John Pasquarette, NI Director of Software Marketing, says: "We are excited that Control Engineering readers recognised LabVIEW software with this prestigious award. It is a testament to the ongoing innovation in the LabVIEW graphical platform, which is guided by user feedback for continued impact in the control area."

For more than 20 years, LabVIEW graphical development has revolutionised the development of scalable test, measurement and control applications. Regardless of experience, engineers and scientists can rapidly and cost-effectively interface with measurement and control hardware, analyse data, share results and distribute systems.

LabVIEW 8.20 enhances the industrial measurement capabilities of LabVIEW with new features designed for advanced analysis and control, improved distributed system management and new targets for human-machine interfaces (HMIs). By introducing technology that simplifies custom controller hardware development and provides new display targets, LabVIEW 8.20 engineers and machine builders can use one software tool to design and deploy industrial systems performing high-performance measurements, FPGA-based advanced analysis and control, communication to existing systems, and human-machine interfacing.
