In July 2017 an update to the second edition of the official guidance was published, known as Edition 2.1 of The Guide to the Application of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

In June 2010 the 2nd Edition of the Guide to application of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC was published.

First edition

Official guidance for the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC was published by the European Commission in early December 2009. Its formal title is Guide to application of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

Running to 337 pages and containing almost 400 comments and explanations, the first edition of the guidance conveys a huge amount of information. However, it does not include comments on all of the Annexes. The second edition, planned for the Spring of 2010, is due to include comments on Annexes III to XI, plus it will have a thematic index to facilitate consultation. The third edition, due late in 2010, will deal with the amendment to the Machinery Directive on machinery for pesticide application (introduced by Directive 2009/127/EC), which becomes applicable on 15 December 2011. By registering to download the first edition of the guide from the Orgalime website, you should be notified when the second edition is published.
