PLCnext Control certified for secure communication
PLCnext Control from Phoenix Contact has now also been certified by DNV in accordance with the international standards IEC 61850 Ed. 2.1 and IEC 62351-3 for secure communication in energy management systems. Previously, the controller was the first on the market to be certified with a scope of functions in accordance with IEC 62443 4-2 SL2.

With this new development, PLCnext Control is setting new standards in the world of industrial IT security. The combination of IEC 61850 Ed. 2.1 and IEC 62351-3, based on IEC 62443 certification, is more than just a technical step forward. It also contributes to improving the security and reliability of the power supply and to shape a sustainable future.
The IEC 61850 Ed. 2.1 is the international standard for data transmission in electrical power grids. It ensures efficient and reliable communication, which is essential for modern power distribution. IEC 62351-3 describes the standard for cybersecurity in energy management systems. It ensures the security of data exchange, since all forwarded data is protected against unauthorized access.
The integration of these standards into the PLCnext Control controllers does not just make a robust platform available for automation; it also enables the security of data communication. This is crucial because the world is becoming increasingly networked and IT security must be the focus of all technological developments.
