Popular hands-on training for micromotor control returns in April

maxon is providing free technical training on DC micromotor control with a one-day course taking place on Wednesday 3 April 2024 at the company's UK headquarters at Wokingham, Berkshire. The in-person training covers speed, torque, and position control for miniature brushed DC and brushless DC (BLDC) motors.

The session is hands-on and uses maxon motor and controller training kits based on maxon's ESCON speed and torque controller, and maxon's EPOS4 position controller. The training will instruct course attendees through all aspects of controller use, from set up through to advanced modes.

The new training date follows the success of maxon's popular controller training sessions held last year. maxon presented four, in-person training days in November and December, with each event fully subscribed.

The training group size for the upcoming event will be compact to maximise student-to-instructor contact time and give full opportunity for questions and answers. A maximum of five students are admitted to each course. The controller training is authored and provided by maxon's experienced engineers, Amir Janjua and Ronak Samani.

The training is free of charge, but places are rapidly allocated, so early booking is recommended.

With over 20 years of collective experience in the motion control industry, Ronak and Amir have a deep understanding of controller technology, says maxon UK and Ireland's managing director, William Mason. Delegates will leave the training sessions with a knowledge of how to install and use the DC micromotor controllers, meaning that each training course gives real, practical value.

Training delegates at maxon's 2023 controller training sessions attended from across the UK. Following a survey, the course attendees reported that the DC motor controller training was valuable for their roles in engineering design and operation.

As well as covering installation and commissioning, the training session includes controller software and configuration, as well as designing and implementing motion control systems with DC micromotors. To maximise the learning experience, each training delegate should bring a laptop pre-installed with the free-to-download maxon ESCON Studio and maxon EPOS Studio software.

The course on Wednesday 3 April will take place from 9am to 3.30pm, with lunch provided.
