The annual technical conference and exhibition brings together more than 600 engineers, scientists and educators representing a spectrum of industries, from automotive and telecommunications to robotics and energy. Delegates can learn about the latest technology to accelerate productivity for software-defined systems in test, measurement and control.

NIDays keynotes

Entitled You and NI Are Creating the Internet of Things, the morning keynote is presented by Eric Starkloff, NI's Executive Vice President for Global Sales and Marketing, with John McLaughlin, Inside Sales, NI. Whether it is the automated testing of consumer devices, the designing, prototyping, deploying and monitoring of industrial systems, or the development of the next generation of wireless communication, a platform-based approach will help you bring your vision to reality. Eric and John will reveal how the platform-based approach is enabling customers to create the internet of things.

The afternoon keynote, You and NI will Solve the Engineering Grand Challenges,is presented by Richard Roberts, a Technical Marketing Engineer at NI. Engineering Grand Challenges include areas of incredible impact, like engineering better medicine, providing energy from fusion, restoring and improving urban infrastructure, and reverse-engineering the brain. Richard will outline how customers and NI are playing a critical role in solving these challenges, along with preparing the next generation of innovators. Professor Mark Miodownik, Professor of Materials and Society at University College London, a BBC broadcaster and critically acclaimed pop-science author, will share his infectious enthusiasm for all things material. Mark will also showcase his research on 3D-printed bike helmets that are tailored to the wearer via smartphone-based head-scans, and are poised to bring a step-change to cyclist safety.

An academic keynote, Graduating Innovation Ready Students, will be presented by Dave Wilson, the Director of Academic Programs at NI, will discuss how the latest, exciting engineering trends must affect the way we educate engineering students. Dave will reveal the latest technologies that stand to revolutionise the academic lab-space and inspire a generation of engineers and scientists. With these tools of innovation, students can put theoretical concepts into practice and graduate ready to engage in cutting edge engineering. Gary Boorman, a Senior Research Officer at Royal Holloway and a celebrated LabVIEW Architect, will reveal how he revolutionised physics education, using NI tools to make learning more practical and engaging than ever before.

Agenda and guest speakers

As well as the keynote presenters, NI has lined up numerous other guest speakers. These will present papers throughout the broad-based agenda that is organised into separate tracks covering:

  • Software Development
  • Measurement and Automated Test
  • RF and Communications
  • Industrial Control and Embedded Design
  • Academic Track
