RFID antenna reliably recognises tools and production materials

Harting has developed a new RFID antenna which enables the precise recognition of tools or production materials in an industrial environment. The new sMR20 RFID antenna provides precisely defined read ranges as low as 1m, which represents an order of magnitude improvement over the currently accepted industry norm. As a result, items in close proximity to one another can be easily recognised and correctly assigned.

The antenna operates over a wavelength range from 865MHz to 928MHz for worldwide use, and offers a degree of protection to IP 67. Its design is insensitive to potential sources of interference, and the antenna can be mounted directly onto a metal surface.

Typical application scenarios for the sMR20 RFID antenna include the recognition of tools, recognition of manufactured goods on production lines, identification of workpieces in machines, and manufacturing logistics.
