Richard Alan Group forms Pumps & Gearboxes Ltd

From the gearbox side, Pumps & Gearboxes says that it can offer flexibility and very fast delivery times with the exclusive Yilmaz Reduktor range of gearboxes and geared motors. The range encompasses worm, helical and bevel-helical gearboxes, with capacities up to 40,000Nm, all of which carry a two-year warranty. According to Pumps & Gearboxes, the speed of service comes from the fact that a wide range of sizes are stocked in a modular format at the Dewsbury-based engineering centre and can be built to order on the same day.

For further modifications and higher volumes for OEM supply, engineers have direct access to Yilmaz production and can order any kind of shaft size and thread, in any combination - imperial, metric or both - and it will go into production with virtually no lead time. One large customer, a global chemical manufacturer, has appointed Richard Alan Group as an official supplier and is claimed to have specified Yilmaz gearboxes as site standard in the UK thanks to a combination of availability and zero failure from already installed units.

The Pumps side of the business has a wide range of pump suppliers to call upon in order to find a suitable product for any pumping requirement. Pumps & Gearboxes has effectively grown out of Pumps & Ancillaries Ltd, part of Richard Alan Engineering. New units from existing suppliers include well-known manufactures such as Wilden Pumps, Sandpiper Pumps, Versamatic Pumps, Aro Pumps, Ebara Pumps, Boyser Peristaltic Pumps, Cemo Pumps (mono, orbit and interchangeable units).

In servicing parent company Richard Alan Group, Pumps & Gearboxes already supplies a wide range of component parts for process plant equipment to demanding industry standards. Richard Alan Engineering manufactures built-to-order process skids and pressure vessels for the oil, gas, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, hence quality and guaranteed supply are absolute prerequisites.

Access to Richard Alan Engineering and precision machining specialist division Ramco-CNC enables bespoke components such as shafts as well as mounts and base plates to be sourced at short notice. This type of extensive machining capability means that the flexibility of a customer-specific build is available again at very short notice.

The aim is to provide the market with greater access to this established resource of stock product, experience and quality machining for all markets. The repair side of the business draws on all these resources, suppliers and in-house engineering expertise to deliver guaranteed repairs on a variety of gearboxes and pumps on very short lead times. For example, if an obsolete part cannot be sourced, it can be made.
