HOPE is an open developed robot produced by a 3D printer, bringing an alternative, cost-effective humanoid to market. With a fully articulated body that can stand, balance, and move at over 25 km/h, HOPE is driven by maxon EC-i motors and controllers. The robot can also maintain balance for up to an hour.
As the first complete prototype of the humanoid robot, HOPE will be joined on maxon's stand by the robot's designer, Rob Knight of The Robot Studio, where visitors can also interact with the humanoid. maxon brushless DC motors were selected for their high dynamism and torque density, with precision in position control achieved by maxon EPOS4 position controllers.
maxon partners with a variety of robot developers, and at SPS the drive system specialist will also show the High Efficiency Joint 90. A compact, integrated robot drive system, the High Efficiency Joint 90 contains the subsystems for a complete motion solution, including electronics, motor, gearhead, and sensors.
maxon will also display the new ESCON2 Nano 24/2 speed controller that measures just 23mm x 16mm x 4.5 mm. The new controller is for brushed and brushless DC motors up to 48 W continuous power and 144 W peak power. ESCON2 Nano 24/2 comes in a modular design with a pluggable pin header and can be combined with an evaluation board to create a ready-to-connect unit. A comprehensive Motherboard Design Guide is available to facilitate easy integration.
maxon's MicroMACS6, the freely programmable and ultra-compact multi-axis motion controller, will also be on show at SPS.
In addition, maxon will display the new 'Strain Wave' gearhead, available from next year, that provides high precision and compactness. Focusing on motors, maxon's ECX Prime 6 and 16 brushless BLDC motors with high torque at high speed will be present alongside maxon's ECX Flat motors in 22mm, 32mm and 42mm diameters that include an external, multi-pole rotor, suitable for limited space.
In further highlights, heavy-duty motors from Parvalux by maxon will be on display, plus a look at capabilities with technical ceramics. maxon's e-bike drive, BIKEDRIVE AIR, will also be at the show.
