Robotic pipe crawlers reaching the unreachable

Robotic pipe crawlers reaching the unreachable

When pipe measurement and inspection specialist OMS needed DC motors for its state-of-the-art robotic crawlers, it turned to Maxon.

A specialist within the energy sector, OMS supplies its crawlers to measure and inspect oil and gas pipeline installations. The crawlers access pipe sections with multiple bends, elbows and vertical sections, previously thought to be unreachable, up to 1km+ from point of entry. The award-winning weld inspection system collects visual and dimensional information.

In further news, Maxon is delighted to be sponsoring this year’s Underwater Robotics Conference from the Global Underwater Hub. The conference takes place on 30 November 2022 at the Hub (1 Abercrombie Court, Westhill, AB32 6FE) or you can join virtually.

The Underwater Robotics Conference demonstrates the latest advances in underwater robotic technology and explores the opportunities and challenges of an autonomous future. Among a great line-up of speakers is Maxon’s subsea expert Sales Engineer, Andrew Gibson.
