Baumuller's new b maXX-safePLC integrates the control of safety and automation functions, thereby reducing the risks to production processes and personnel. The company claims that both safety and productivity are increased because of the diagnostics that enable the early detection and resolution of manufacturing errors. This can, in turn, prevent expensive downtime.
The b maXX-safePLC safety controller also helps to reduce complexity by eliminating the need for complex wiring, thereby reducing the number of wires involved and minimising the testing effort required.
Combined standard automation and SIL 3 (EN 61508 and EN 62061) safety control therefore both reduces the complexity of the system or machine and ensures safe operation, and also offers machine operators a cost benefit compared to conventional system architectures.
