SafetySight Iridio: taking industrial safety to the next level

By actively monitoring the protected area, SafetySight Iridio revolutionises the concept of access control. Following a request to restart the machine, the device performs an automatic check of the area, detecting any operator motion before machinery start-up.

Preventing unexpected machine restart conditions, SafetySight Iridio significantly reduces the risk of workplace accidents and contributes to a safer operating environment, thus ensuring a higher level of protection than traditional mechanical lockout systems.

SafetySight Iridio is designed for safety levels up to: SIL 2 according to IEC 61508, and PL d, Category 3 according to ISO 13849-1.

This safety camera features a front-facing RGB LED indicator that provides immediate feedback on the device's operating status through different colours associated with different operating modes.

Every SafetySight Iridio device integrates a complete safety system within a single unit, interfacing with the machine control architecture through digital outputs. As a result, there is no need to install a dedicated control unit inside the electrical cabinet.

To streamline setup and commissioning, Pizzato has developed Iridio Studio, a dedicated software package that guides users through configuration and calibration procedures in a simple and intuitive way. Iridio Studio makes it possible to visually inspect the monitored scene and define masking areas to eliminate irrelevant regions outside the workspace or to exclude potential sources of disturbance.

Applications involving large workspaces or geometrically complex areas can benefit from the installation of multiple SafetySight Iridio devices. By combining several units, users can achieve comprehensive area coverage, eliminate blind spots and manage the entire system centrally through Iridio Studio.
