Scalable performance in automation systems

With Lenze controllers, machine builders can quickly scale the performance in their automation landscape. As a central component of Lenze's open automation system, they facilitate the modular design of machines. Machine builders benefit from a shorter time- to-market thanks to modern engineering and the use of prefabricated software modules.

Machine builders are increasingly looking for scalable performance in their automation landscape, especially when it comes to controllers. Lenze knows the needs of the market very well and, with its controllers, offers a platform that is both easily scalable in terms of performance and offers functions that enable modular system and machine design with little effort.

Lenze presented these innovations at SPS in Nuremberg. Users can adapt optional nodes on EtherCAT much more easily. The option of selecting different parameter sets for drives also reduces the effort involved in using different performance classes in one machine.

Interaction of controller and visualisation

In conjunction with the UI Designer engineering tool, machine builders can quickly develop aesthetic machine visualisations. Lenze been investing in its visualisation expertise for several years.

"Good visualisation is crucial for the success of a machine. A high level of usability promises process stability, greater efficiency in operation, reduces training costs, is an answer to the shortage of skilled workers in the industry, and thus creates competitive advantages for the customer," explains Dr. Julia Jurgens, Product Manager Automation Systems.

She is responsible for visualisation at Lenze and, together with her team, consistently focuses on web-based visualisation. In line with this, Lenze has expanded its portfolio to include web panels that can be used in the field as well as in the control cabinet.

Lenze's automation system

Around the c430, c520 and c550 controllers, Lenze offers an open automation system, from the field level to the cloud. User-oriented engineering supports customers. Users can rely on ready-to-use modules from the Lenze FAST Application Software as well as on templates and applications that enable individualisation and at the same time reduces development times.

A central element is the System Designer, which efficiently supports the development process of a new machine from the initial idea, through the specific drive design, to the PLC programming interface. In the PLC Designer, users start with a created hardware tree, while FAST software modules reduce the scope and complexity of programming.

With applications on the edge layer, additional functions are added to the machine that enable condition monitoring and process optimisation, for example. Lenze provides the right tool for managing and rolling out these apps with the Nupano App Handling. Cloud solutions such as the Asset Performance Platform, which facilitates collaboration between OEMs and machine operators in the event of servicing, round off the range.
