Schneider Electric has been recognised by Fortune Magazine in its 2016 Change the World list. The Group ranks 24 in this ranking that highlights companies addressing global social problems as part of their core business strategy and integrating societal needs into their corporate strategy. Globally the list recognised companies making intentional efforts to prove the profit motive can be harnessed to alleviate some of the world's most persistent social ills.

Schneider Electric has been named for its Access to Energy programme, which brings electrical power to people and communities without power and trains local workers to ensure sustainability. On its website, Fortune Magazine notably highlighted Schneider Electric's off-grid solar backup solution that powered 128 Kenyan schools and the Group's training initiatives in energy management in Africa, Asia and South America for disadvantaged youth's people.
