Securing competitive advantages in manufacturing with Machine Vision

Machine vision has become indispensable in industrial manufacturing, enabling faster, more precise, digitalised production. MVTec Software will demonstrate these competitive advantages at the automatica trade show from June 24 to 27, 2025.

Securing competitive advantages in manufacturing with Machine Vision

At Booth B5.303, MVTec will present its full technology portfolio. Visitors can experience live demonstrations of the MVTec software products HALCON, MERLIC, and the Deep Learning Tool. MVTec will also highlight how various machine vision technologies support the automation of core industrial applications, such as quality assurance and identification, as well as the collaboration with robots.

"The automatica trade show has become an increasingly important platform for us to engage with companies and stakeholders across all areas of the automation industry. As a Munich-based company, we have home field advantage - something we intend to use to showcase our products, technologies, and expertise to a broad audience. This time our message is: 'AI for industrial machine vision made in Munich'," says Dr. Olaf Munkelt, Managing Director of MVTec.

Broad application range

Dr. Maximilian Luckenhaus, Director Marketing and Business Development at MVTec, adds: "Our presence at automatica demonstrates how companies can gain a significant competitive edge with machine vision. With HALCON, MERLIC, and the Deep Learning Tool, we offer the right software products to meet all requirements. This allows us to support the entire industrial value chain with powerful machine vision technologies, paving the way for a high level of automation - especially in quality assurance, identification, and interaction with robots."

As one of the global technology leaders in machine vision software, MVTec offers both traditional rule-based machine vision methods and deep learning technologies. The combination of these approaches - traditional and deep learning - is especially powerful, opening the door to completely new applications and increasing the robustness of existing ones. One example is Deep 3D Matching, a technique that combines both rule-based and deep learning methods. This innovation, showcased at the MVTec booth, enables particularly robust results in bin-picking applications.

In addition, MVTec's software stands out for its extensive library of machine vision operators, which can solve virtually any machine vision task. Application areas range from object recognition, optical character recognition (OCR), barcode and data code reading, to defect inspection and the optimisation of robot-based handling processes. These applications will also be demonstrated live at the MVTec booth. With more than 4,500 international customers, the owner-managed Munich-based company has been delivering state-of-the-art machine vision technologies for all industrial sectors since 1996.
