Seminar: Application of EN standards to machinery guarding

The PPMA is promoting its seminar Machinery Guarding: the application of EN standards, the next of which takes place on 7 June 2018 at the Marriott Hotel, Northampton. The seminar is aimed at companies designing, manufacturing, purchasing and using machinery and production systems, as well as anything else within the scope of the Machinery Directive that requires guarding or that is a guard requiring CE marking as a 'safety component'. In particular, the machinery guarding seminar covers these topics:

  • Overview of CE marking and PUWER with respect to machine guarding
  • Introduction to EN standards
  • Risk assessments
  • Safety-related control systems
  • EN ISO 14120 (Safety of machinery. Guards. General requirements for the design and construction of fixed and movable guards)
  • EN ISO 13855 (Safety of machinery. Positioning of safeguards with respect to the approach speeds of parts of the human body)
  • EN ISO 13857 (Safety of machinery. Safety distances to prevent hazard zones being reached by upper and lower limbs)

The price for one delegate is 395, with discounts available for subsequent delegates. Members and Associate Members of PPMA pay reduced prices of 195 and 250 per delegate, respectively.

This Machinery Guarding seminar complements the other seminars offered by the PPMA, including Robotic Safety for Integrators, Machinery Directive and CE Marking, CE Audit, PUWER, Machinery Risk Assessment and Functional Safety. These take place at venues around the UK and Ireland or can be tailored and presented at a company's premises. In addition, the PPMA runs various courses relating to managing people.
