Siemens to represent AS-i at Profibus conference
Siemens Automation & Drives will be representing the AS-Interface Expert Alliance at the forthcoming Profibus International User Conference at Coombe Abbey, Warwickshire, on 26 and 27 June 2007.
Paul Hingley of Siemens will present a paper looking at how to link ASi-Safe with Profisafe. Siemens Automation & Drives is one of the leaders in ASi-Safe (more correctly known as AS-Interface Safety at Work), with 10,000 functional safety devices installed in the UK alone. Paul Hingley will also introduce a new gateway that allows ASi-Safe signals to be sent into Profibus networks running Profisafe. Linking two safety networks in this way is claimed to be unique, and the ability to zone very large production lines in this way is described as a major step forward.
