SK 200E inverter series for distributed applications

Nord Drivesystems is promoting its SK 200E series frequency inverters for distributed automation applications that place wide-ranging demands on drive systems. These terminal box inverters are also said to be a simple and economical alternative to distributed servo systems. Available in a range of performance grades and with many upgrade options, the SK 200E series frequency inverters allow users to select customised systems with features and costs that are tailored to their specific requirements. The modular inverter series is available in size 1 to 4 with a performance between 0.25 and 22kW, covering distributed applications ranging from simple control tasks to complex positioning.

All models feature an integrated positioning control module and connection options for incremental and absolute encoders. The integrated POSICON position control module enables users to program up to 63 absolute positions. Position information can also be transferred via a fieldbus interface. Additionally, up to six step lengths (position increments) can be stored in the frequency inverter.

Expansion options include external braking resistors and a separate 24V power supply for standalone control voltage operation. Nord also provides I/O modules that allow for the detection and transfer of sensor and actuator signals as well as communication interfaces (with and without I/Os) for CANopen, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet and EtherCAT. Interfaces for the Industrial Ethernet standards Powerlink and EtherNet/IP are under preparation. Expansion options are available as external technology units for installation either directly on the device, or on a machine frame or plant component. Alternatively, they are available as internal modules that extend the integrated functional range without altering the dimensions of the inverter.

A ParameterBox with a control panel and a plain text display enables control, configuration and diagnostics. It also allows for the direct connection of a PC via a USB port. Another option for quick configuration and diagnostics is the SimpleBox, which has a control panel with a four-digit, seven-segment display. In addition to the 24V power supply for stand-alone operation, Nord also provides the PotiBox with robust controls for clockwise/counterclockwise operation and a setpoint potentiometer.
