SquirrelView.net manages data from multiple remote sites

Grant Instruments is launching SquirrelView.net, a cost-effective web-based product designed to simplify the collection, storage, dissemination, analysis and presentation of data from multiple remote monitoring sites.

SquirrelView.net manages data from multiple remote sites

The easy-to-use SquirrelView.net subscription service enables any authorised user with an internet-connected computer to view, via a standard web browser, current or historic data from any number of remote wireless-enabled data loggers. The new service is expected to be popular for environmental monitoring projects as well as for field research and field engineering, where different stakeholders require remote and speedy access to the most up-to-date data.

Nathan Neal, director of sales and marketing at Grant Instruments, says: "SquirrelView.net is an innovative new concept for data collection, storage and dissemination. Thanks to some clever integration, sophisticated data logging technology and ubiquity of the web, it is now possible to cost-effectively manage data from multiple, geographically remote locations. Importantly, our solution provides authorised users with 24/7 access to real-time and historic data without the need for expensive specialist host software on their computers."

Graphing and filtering

SquirrelView.net features a complete set of integrated online graphing and filtering tools and can be used to view current or historic data and create template graphs (2D and 3D) for presentation. Users can configure multiple projects within SquirrelView.net for one or many data loggers and each project may contain photos, images, plans or schematics to aid the user interface.

Thanks to the new service, system administrators can also program each data acquisition device to upload new data automatically, at pre-determined times, into the specified SquirrelView.net project. Following posting, the data can be filtered, graphed and presented on a drawing interface or downloaded to a CSV or XLS file for further off-line analysis if required.

Hosted on a secure web server to protect sensitive data, the SquirrelView.net system is versatile and each project can have multiple access rights, from read-only to full project administration for a range of users. SquirrelView.net works with all of the current range of Grant's Squirrel SQ2010, SQ2020 and SQ2040 series of data loggers.

The Grant data acquisition product range extends from high-specification, portable data logging systems (Squirrel family) through to fully integrated custom-configurable acquisition and control systems (dataTaker family). Eltek, the Cambridge-based Grant affiliate, produces Squirrel variants primarily for remote logging. All products come with a three-year warranty. OEM versions of most products are available on request.
