HBM's modular Canhead amplifier system now accepts more efficient RJ connectors thanks to the new CB1016 module. The CB1016 enables strain gauge quarter-bridges to be conveniently and reliably connected through shielded RJ45 plugs or RJ11 plugs that are easier-to-manage and less expensive.
RJ connectors have many advantages for end users because they are easy to connect properly, simplifying strain gauge installation even in inaccessible spots. There is virtually no risk of mixing up cable cores with RJ connectors, and testing the strain gages is simpler too.
The CB1016 is complemented by HBM's range of pre-assembled strain gauges with cables that are now offered with pre-fitted RJ connectors.
Canhead is HBM's distributed system of compact 10-channel measuring modules and is excellent for structural testing with medium to large channel counts. Experimental stress analysis using strain gauges (SG) is the main principle of measurement applied for this purpose.
Canhead is based on HBM's patented four-wire configuration and uses a carrier frequency of 600Hz. In comparison with conventional three-wire systems, the four-wire configuration increases precision and insensitivity to cable resistance variations.
