Strong demand for mobile industrial robots from manufacturers

Peter Williamson, managing director of RARUK Automation, is delighted that Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) is experiencing strong demand for its products. According to a recent press release from MiR, the company has enjoyed an astounding 500 per cent growth in sales in 2016, with over 200 MiR100 robots and accessories installed in more than 30 countries. MiR has been expanding its global presence, establishing regional offices in New York and Shanghai. Furthermore, MiR also tripled the size of its Denmark headquarters, relocating to a new location that will support its ongoing expansion. On 3 April, a new product will be launched in Chicago at Automate, North America's largest automation trade show. This product is expected to help triple sales increases in 2017, through the combined activities of MiR's 73 distributors across 33 countries - which includes RARUK Automation in the UK.

Strong demand for mobile industrial robots from manufacturers

MiR CEO Thomas Visti commented: "We continue to develop the innovative products that customers need to optimise their production and to make sure their employees are adding value to company processes. The requirements for automating internal transportation increased substantially this year, and companies need to be able to implement these technologies quickly and easily - and to see a fast return on their investment. That is why we are focused on flexibility and smart, intuitive interaction so customers can effortlessly collaborate with our technologies without changing their existing environment."

While the MiR100 robots are cost-effective, flexible and sufficiently user-friendly to provide significant value for mid-sized manufacturers, increasingly customers are multinational companies. MiR customers include Boeing, Flex, Unilever, Ericsson, HUGO BOSS, Honeywell, Continental, Danone, Kamstrup and Assa Abloy.

Peter Williamson of RARUK Automation states: "Although we have only represented MiR in the UK for a matter of months, we can certainly confirm a high level of interest. The robot attracted a lot of attention when we launched it at PPMA last year. UK manufacturers are actively looking at the most cost-effective ways of automating their production and we are currently handling projects from many different engineering sectors. Interestingly enough, several of these involve both MiR and Universal Robots. It is too early to release any details but, safe to say, RARUK Automation is confident that MiR will have a significant impact on its 2017 order intake."
